Preparations for the first international book fair in the blockaded Gaza Strip
Eisawi told journalists that the holding of a book fair is one way of confronting the cultural effects of Zionist colonisation and to reinforce the historic and cultural roots of the Palestinians in particular and the Arab and Muslim ummah in general.
He expressed hope that all Arab publishers participate in the book fair with the latest publications in terms of books and encyclopaedias, especially that the Gaza Strip has been deprived of books over the past four years as a result of the blockade.
The book fair will be held in mid-December and will last for one week with participation of an official delegation from the Union of Arab Publishers.
Eisawi stressed that the Israeli occupation bars the entry of all books into the Gaza Strip since it imposed the blockade on the coastal Strip about four years ago.
