Press Statement by The Secretary-General of The FJP
Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, Secretary General of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), stated that the party will participate in the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. Dr. Mohamed Morsi, FJP Chairman, will represent the party.
The Secretary-General stressed that the FJP would have preferred, as a priority, before the meeting with the political stakeholders: withdrawal of forces arrayed against the protesters, and immediate trials for all those who caused death of demonstrators. Whatever the outcome of the meeting, the FJP is committed to the right of peaceful protest, demonstration and sit-ins; and believes that there is no solution to end the current crisis except by adopting the just demands of protestors, move ahead with parliamentary elections on time, and set a clear timetable for the handover of power no later than mid-2012.
