Ismail Haneyya, the premier of the PA caretaker government in Gaza, has asked the Arab leaders scheduled to hold their summit conference by end of March in Syria to adopt practical steps to break the suffocating IOF siege imposed on the Gaza Strip for almost ten months.

In a telephone contact Sunday night with the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the premier said that the Palestinian people were looking forward to the summit to pass "practical and serious steps in this regard".

Haneyya discussed with the Amir latest developments in the Palestinian arena and the harsh conditions in the Strip as a result of the siege.

He thanked the Qatari head of state for his country"s "noble stands", which was apparent in its supportive stands alongside the Palestinian people and their suffering.

Haneyya congratulated Sheikh Hamad over the return of cohesion and brotherly relations between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, saying that it fell in the interest of the two countries along with that of the Arab and Islamic Nation.

Sheikh Hamad, for his part, affirmed that the Palestine cause was a priority for his country, and that Qatar would work alongside its sisterly Arab countries to highlight the Gaza siege during that summit.
