Reportedly, there were about 300 Egyptian journalists participated in the protest stand on the stairs of Journalists Syndicate yesterday evening, October 27, where they demanded the release of their fellow Ahmed Zayed, the journalist in Al Maidan newspaper, and the demonstrators lifted banners denouncing the arrest of their colleague, demanding the Interior Minister of the quick release of him.

The security forces have arrested Zayed when he mediated for the release of one of his relatives who was arrested by suspect, and a record was written, but the journalist was surprised by being charged with four accusations, which are : the attempt to help a defendant to escape, resisting authorities, assaulting a police officer and assaulting a civil servant during performing his duties, so the prosecution held him in custody for four days, and a decision was issued on Saturday to refer him to the trial before Al Omrania Criminal Court.

Zayed was subjected to beatings and humiliation by Captain Ahmed Abdu Hussein in Giza security forces, who threw Zayed"s carnet of Journalists Syndicate in his face, insulted and cursed him, and assaulted him which resulted in bruises and wounds in his neck and in other parts of his body.
