He told the PIC in an exclusive statement that Fatah, during the meeting, said that it should return to its leader and former PA chief Mahmoud Abbas in this issue but agreed on halting media campaigns until the file of political detention was closed. Both movements agreed on continuing meetings until the file is closed, he said, stressing that Hamas is truly interested in ending political detention. Taha said that his movement was prepared to cooperate fully in this regard but highlighted that Fatah should display positive signs in order for Hamas to act likewise. The reconciliation committee meeting was held simultaneously in Gaza Strip and the West Bank on Sunday evening in the presence of officials of both movements under Egyptian patronage. |
