Egyptian security forces detained 11 aides of a member of parliament in Cairo while organizing a free medical convoy to serve people. (Picture from archive) Egyptian security forces detained after Friday Prayer 11 aides of Dr. Hazem Farouk, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood parliamentary bloc for Al-Sahil constituency, Cairo, and some workers while organizing a free medical convoy in Ezbat Ayoub; they were transferred to the prosecution on charges of organizing a medical convoy without a permit!!; the prosecution is still investigating with them. MP Farouk, his aides and all people were stunned by huge security units surrounding the region of the convoy since the early morning; three big central security cars laden with soldiers, police patrol cars and state security forces intimidated people and prevented them from reaching the medical convoy after arresting 11 young men of Dr. Farouk’s aides in addition to other workers. The detainees are:
-Hisham Saif, pharmacist -Hani Abdul Samie, accountant -Amr Ghallab, storekeeper -Alaa Al Gazzaz, secondary school teacher, -Mahmoud Abdul Alim, a first year student at the Faculty of Medicine, -Ahmed Abdul Alim, a first year student at the Faculty of Engineering, -Mr. Ibrahim, worker in the medical convoy -Mr. Mohamed, worker in the medical convoy -Walid Mohamed, son of a worker in the medical convoy For his part, Dr. Hazem Farouk, the Muslim Brotherhood MP commented on this escalation, saying: It is against people’s interest to prevent this free medical convoy; is settling political scores making the regime prevent a member of parliament from serving residents of his constituency?!. Farouk added that what is happening can’t prevent the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliated MPs from meeting people and serving them; these huge numbers of soldiers should have persecute those who monopolize steel and cement and others instead of fighting well-reputed men who want to serve their fellow citizens.
