Former IAEA chief Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei has announced that he will not take part in the January 25 Day of Rage Protests. The Noble Peace Prize Laureate stated that although he supports the protests he will not physically join the march.

He hoped the protestors would follow through with the demonstrations and not degenerate calling on them to remain adamant commending the Tunisians who were successful in toppling the tyrannical regime led by Dictator Ben Ali.

Although he hoped the Egyptians would be successful in their call he highlighted that there were major differences between Tunisia and Egypt. He added while in Egypt the discontent arises from fundamental needs which may spark a revolt by the poor and frustrated Tunisia can boast an extensive middle class.

ElBaradei maintained that he hoped President Mubarak would not seek another term in office when his mandate expires in September, calling on the aging president to eliminate the emergency law in force for 3 decades and  called for free fair and transparent elections.
