Pro-Democracy Alliance Calls ‘Steadfastness: Way to Victory’ Week of Peaceful Revolutionary Action

Pro-Democracy Alliance Calls ‘Steadfastness: Way to Victory’ Week of Peaceful Revolutionary Action

In a few days, Egypt will witness the latest episode of the farcical trial of the legitimate elected President Mohamed Morsi and dozens of the real symbols and leaders of the January 25 Revolution. The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance reaffirms that it does not recognize these charades of trials, absurd verdicts and sentences, or the blood-thirsty unjust judges.

The Alliance reiterates its confidence in the democratically-elected President, and solemnly salutes the steadfastness and resilience of all revolutionaries languishing behind prison walls, and those suffering for the sake of their religion and their Revolution.

The Alliance also salutes the courageous stance of the State of Pakistan which rejects the execution of President Morsi, and the German Parliament’s position, as well as Turkey’s official position, and the initiative of former Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki; and salutes Muslim Scholars’ statements and actions in support of the Truth.

The Alliance applauds the epic steadfastness and resilience of Egypt’s revolutionary people, and calls for an escalation of the resistance to the coup in a new revolutionary week entitled "Steadfastness: the way to victory" as an integral part of the extended wave "Victory and Retribution".

This steadfastness has already confused the coup regime and its supporters, leading many of them to jump from the junta’s sinking ship, and causing others to turn on the coup leader they had followed blindly thus far. Meanwhile, we call on all those who realized the putschists’ deception and the threat to the homeland to join the revolutionaries in the streets and squares of Egypt, defying the coup regime, so we accelerate the ousting of this despotic military rule and rebuild our state in accordance with civil constitutional foundations.

Today, we hear and see conflicts among the coup’s different wings, cronies and beneficiaries, coming out into the open. In any event, we will not accept the replacement of one General with another, nor one corrupt leader with another corrupt leader. We will continue to commit to the right of the people to fully reclaim their Revolution, and will never get distracted by the coup regime’s phantom conflicts, nor by their self-interest differences.

We salute the steadfastness of the heroic prisoners behind bars who are suffering extremely harsh conditions, subjected to harassment, denial of visits, denial of health care especially for those who suffer illnesses, and for whom such deliberate negligence means slow death. It is a known fact now that over 265 detainees died in junta prisons, just for this reason, since the July 3, 2013 coup.

The coup regime adds to its proven failures, day after day, causing more damage and losses to the Egyptian people, who can no longer bear the high prices, increased unemployment, abuse and humiliation by the police and total lack of security.

We call on the great Egyptian people to actively participate in this new revolutionary week. We call on all Egyptians to act now to break this coup without further delay, in order to prevent further deterioration and collapse of our homeland.

Victory for the Revolution
