Pro-Democracy National Alliance Official Source: Still Committed to Peacefulness, Reject Violence
An official source at the Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance said: "We are still committed to our peaceful approach, and reject all violence".

This was in response to the broadcast by a number of websites of a video recording where masked gunmen in southern Cairo spoke about the adoption of armed violence against the military coup in their neighborhood.

An official source in the Alliance said: "Military coup authorities are fully responsible for any violence or security chaos, such as this, and which we certainly reject.

"The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance warned repeatedly of reaching this point as a result of coup violence and criminality and the absence of real justice. Currently, the judiciary are being used as a tool to punish honorable Egyptians, especially opponents of the coup."

He added: "The National Alliance will remain committed to the peaceful approach as their strategic choice. The Alliance has nothing to do with that latest development. For religious, political and practical considerations, the Alliance does not condone or justify such a step. The Alliance has seen that revolutionaries are indeed committed to peacefulness and restraint, despite junta terror, violence and the shedding of yet more protesters’ blood.

"Popular protest is the strategy chosen by revolutionaries. It is the right way to defeat the junta, not resorting to armed violence."
