Pro-Democracy National Alliance Calls “Save the Forcibly Disappeared” Peaceful Protest Week
As the military coup regime in Egypt feels the growing public anger against it and its policies, it is acting with hysterical nervousness, killing citizens in cold blood, ordering judges to issue death sentences without evidence, scorching already impoverished people with absurdly frequent mad price rises and violating citizens’ dignity in police stations, town-halls and state institutions.

Over the period of two weeks, coup authorities assassinated 29 citizens who had been arrested and subjected to enforced disappearance by coup security agencies. Lying authorities claimed its forces killed those citizens in an exchange of fire as they resisted arrest. In fact, those citizens had been arrested by coup police and detained in secret locations, and their relatives were not informed of those places of detention.

Even now, and at any given time, there are dozens or even hundreds of persons who are forcibly disappeared. Their families fear they would be executed in similar ways.

The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance warns the coup regime against illegal execution of detainees who are now being subjected to enforced disappearance. These authorities bear full responsibility for the lives of those who are forcibly disappeared.

The Alliance also stresses that the issuance of more death sentences against coup regime opponents will not afford this regime any security or stability. Indeed, it will cause more public anger, as well as over-burden citizens with more price rises and crises, especially as subsidies on bread are abolished.

The Alliance follows the extrajudicial killing of peaceful citizens with tremendous pain and increasing concern. The coup regime must take full responsibility for these assassinations and those unjust policies against the citizens.

The Alliance calls for a new revolutionary week entitled "Save the forcibly disappeared". Those citizens who are killed outside the framework of the law are Egyptian people, our brothers, our sons, our fathers. Those who are silent on their execution today may well be subjected to the same fate tomorrow by this same regime, which does not differentiate between Egyptians in its violation of their rights and freedoms
