Ramahi: Political detention main block before national agreement
Hamas MP Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ramahi has said that political detention in the West Bank was the main stumbling block before reaching an agreement between Hamas and Fatah factions.
Ramahi, in a press release on Friday, said that Fatah did not release the political detainees included in the list tabled by Hamas, adding that on the contrary 17 new Hamas affiliates were arrested on Thursday.
He said that the atmosphere was not favorable at present for reaching an agreement between the two factions to end the internal Palestinian division, adding that many questions were resolved but the political detention file was still pending.
The lawmaker said that the quickest way of reaching a real agreement was releasing all of the 750 Hamas detainees in the West Bank.
