Relatives of prisoners stage solidarity sit-in

The committee in a statement on Saturday said that similar activities would be organized in face of the Israeli prisons authority’s repressive measures against those prisoners.

It asked the world community and human rights groups to send fact-finding committees to visit those prisoners and to get acquainted with their conditions and finally to force Israel to comply with international laws in this regard.

Meanwhile, the oldest serving Palestinian prisoner Nael Al-Barghouthi on Sunday enters his 33rd year in Israeli occupation’s captivity, Ra’fat Hamdona, the director of the prisoners’ center for studies, said on Saturday.

He said that Barghouthi, who was detained since 4/4/1978 when he was 20 years old and who is serving a life sentence, is the oldest serving Palestinian and Arab prisoner in Israeli occupation jails.

Hanan, Barghouthi’s sister, said that Nael lost both his parents while in captivity.
