Resheq: Hamas will not resume the dialog before ending the political arrest file

Ezzat Al-Reshsq, a member of Hamas political bureau, on Monday said that the political arrest file in the West Bank deepens the rift in the national dialog with Fatah faction which still refuses to end it, stressing that his Movement would not resume the dialog without reaching a solution to this file.
In a statement to the PIC, Resheq underlined that his Movement would not sign any reconciliation agreement before an end to the political arrest file, accusing the PA and Fatah of pursuing the same revolving door policy used by the Israeli occupation with the Palestinian people.
The Hamas official noted that Fatah leaders’ talk about the release of some political prisoners are an attempt to pull the wool over the eyes, where there are still more than 900 prisoners in their jails and their security apparatuses still carry out dozens of arrests every day.
For his part, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated to the PIC that Fatah reneged on commitments it made in the first round of the national dialog held on February 26 in Cairo after it had pledged to release all political prisoners in its jails during the dialog rounds.
Spokesman Barhoum explained that Fatah leaders admitted that the political arrest campaigns carried out against Hamas in the West Bank come in the framework of its commitments towards the Israeli occupation and the international community.
He noted that this admission confirmed that Fatah retreated from its pledges to end the political arrest file in order to achieve its partisan objectives.
“It is difficult to discuss the remaining outstanding issues because this file is the most important for the success of the dialog, the spokesman highlighted, warning that this file poses a threat to the entire Palestinian national project.
Regarding the Egyptian position in this regard, the spokesman said Egypt as a sponsor of the dialog and a witness to Fatah pledges, is obliged to exercise its role strongly and effectively and use more pressing language with Fatah so as to force it to respect the Egyptian efforts.
In the context of political arrests carried out in the West Bank, the PA security apparatuses kidnapped on Sunday five Palestinian citizens from different West Bank areas.
Another citizen called Ausaid Al-Kharraz, a student at the university of Al-Najah, was kidnapped yesterday by IOF troops at an Israeli checkpoint in Nablus just less than one month after his release from the Fatah-affiliated preventive security’s jails.
