Ruqub: Hamas to pursue all means to liberate prisoners
KHAN YOUNIS, — Hamas is to use all means available to liberate Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails, Hamas spokesman in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, Hammad Al-Ruqub said on Wednesday.
He said in a statement that the Israeli occupation authority’s (IOA) policy in repressing prisoners in violation of legal norms, and torturing and harassing them and their families pose as new evidence on the IOA brutality and its disregard of all humanitarian principles.
The spokesman appealed to the Arab and Islamic countries to act and save the prisoners and not to remain silent toward what is happening against them in IOA jails.
Ruqub also asked the world community to stop talking about noble values while remaining tightlipped regarding the IOA crimes.
For its part, the association of Palestinian religious scholars called on Palestinian factions to continue their efforts to release all prisoners, describing it as a religious duty.
It asked the Palestinian, Arab and Islamic masses in a statement on Wednesday to take part in the prisoners’ protest steps against the IOA repression.
The Israeli occupation forces, meanwhile, continued their daily arrest campaigns of Palestinian citizens and detained four of them at dawn Wednesday in the cities of Jericho, Nablus and Ramallah.
