Sabri: Islamic, Christian shrines passing through critical stage

Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, the head of the higher Islamic authority, said that the Islamic and Christian holy shrines in occupied Jerusalem are passing through a critical stage and the world has to intervene to save them.

Sabri, during a meeting in his office on Monday with Egyptian ambassador to the Palestinian Authority Yasser Othman, reviewed the dangers threatening the Islamic holy sites in Palestine represented in Israeli attempts to judaize and forge those shrines.

The Sheikh mentioned the danger threatening the Tankuzia School, located in the yards of the Aqsa Mosque, which has turned into army barracks for the Israeli occupation.

He said that the Israeli occupation authority was planning to turn this school into a Jewish synagogue.

For his part, the Egyptian ambassador said that his country was concerned with following up the occupied holy city’s affairs and what is happening to the Aqsa Mosque.

He added that the Egyptian government stands alongside the Jerusalemites in their ordeal.
