Sabri holds UNESCO responsible for Judaization of Aqsa Mosque
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, Sheikh Ikrema Sabri, the Mufti of the holy land, on Tuesday held UNESCO responsible for the Israeli occupation authority’s Judaization plans of the holy Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
He said in a press release that UNESCO should assume its role as a protector of the Aqsa Mosque in its capacity as an important part of world heritage.
Sabri warned of the IOA schemes to Judaize the Buraq Wall plaza, adding that the plot seeks to Judaize vast areas of the blessed Aqsa Mosque and would block entry of Muslims into many parts of it.
He said that the Arab and Islamic countries also have a big responsibility toward the protection of the holy Islamic sites.
For its part, the Quds committee in the Palestinian ministry of Awkaf and religious affairs in Gaza warned of the new scheme to Judaize the entire Buraq plaza.
The committee said in a statement on Tuesday that the new plan envisages establishing a new underground entrance leading to the western wall of the Aqsa Mosque that would serve as the main gate to the area.
The IOA-controlled municipality of Jerusalem plans to dig a big tunnel from Silwan to the Buraq plaza, which would change the demography of the area and wipe out its landmarks, the committee warned.
