SCAF Confirms Elections Will Be Held On Time

According to a recent statement by a military official SCAF will not postpone parliamentary elections. He maintained that the new parliament should focus mainly on drafting a new constitution that outlines the specific format and regulations for the upcoming presidential elections.

Related, as the presidential elections approach, candidate and former Arab League Chief Amr Mousa as part of his presidential campaign across the country said he will not pardon former president Mubarak if he is elected after meeting with the Alexandria Business Association.

Mousa added if elected he will not pardon the ousted Mubarak asserting that he will only remain in office for one term during which he would “establish the fundamentals, democracy and the state of law, upon which the Egyptian state would be based”.  According to Mousa a presidential system rather than a parliamentary one is appropriate for Egypt. He added that partisan life in Egypt was still in the initial processes. During his rounds he told Alexandria’s businessmen that he supported a “free economy based on social justice”.
