Meanwhile, in a statement to Ikhwanweb, Gharbiyya MP Ali Laban (Member of the MB Parliamentary Bloc) slammed the abusive treatment of security with the drivers” strike accusing the government of igniting this and other crises.  Laban considered the strike and the disappointing events following it up to the moment of writing this article the result of the Egyptian regime”s despotism.

Laban added that the Egyptian government”s approach of all issues using the security stick is clear-cut proof of its political failure and weakness.  Laban also attributed the escalation of strikes and sit-ins to the government”s isolation from the people and their aspirations and because the majority in the People”s Assembly represent the government”s interests rather than the people.

The crisis was exacerbated between the drivers and the government especially after the around 50 drivers were arrested and others were threatened.  Meanwhile, the government continues to insist on its stance while the strikers insist that their requests be met.
