Security battalion attacks Az Zawiyah Libya

Human Rights Solidarity has reported the grave situation in the city of Az Zawiyah, west of Libya this morning Saturday March 5.
Witnesses have reported that 3 military tanks accompanied by 12 to 15 military vehicles have entered the city from the east and is only 1.5 Km from the city centre reaching Omar al Mokhtar Street which is known to be the densest part of Az Zawiyah in population.
The tanks so far have met with resistance by the citizens defending the city.
The security battalion, attacking Az Zawiyah, is commanded by General al Khweildi al Humaidy, a close associate of Gaddafi. He is part of the military junta which brought Gaddafi into power in the September 1969 military coup, and is the head of the intelligence agency of the regime.
HRS expresses its concern about the safety of the civilian population of Az Zawiyah, and considers the situation very critical.
