Security Forces Arrested Two Parliament Members
The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (HRinfo) declared arresting two parliament members illegally, in which it is a non- forgiven crime.
In Al-Monofia Governorate, the security forces broke into a house of an engineer during taking his meal with some friends. Two of them were the parliament members “engineer Sabry Amer and Ragab Abu Zeid”. They arrest the two illegally not in the very act despite their immunity guaranteed by the Egyptian Constitution. Moreover, they discarded laws for arresting members of the parliament.
In a declaration by HRinfo Executive Director Gamal Eid “security forces always exceed the laws without questioning, however in this case it reached the parliament members who have immunity. Hrinfor Calls upon the Chair of People’s Assembly to punish how are responsible for this act, in which he has the authority on the government and the opposition not only the parliament members”.
The state’s policy in arresting the members of Muslim Brother Group is a background to the government supposition about the group’s attempt to form a military organization. However, until the government gets a clear vision about the issue, it must respect the laws and citizens’ rights and protect parliament members’ immunity. Even if having dinner became a crime in Egypt, the government must declare this in public.
