Shehab Center for Human Rights Calls for Investigation into the Death of a Citizen in Alexandria’s Al-Montaza Police Station
In their statement today, members of Shehab Centre for Human Rights demanded an urgent and independent investigation into the murder of Mahmoud El-Shahat.
His condition had deteriorated and he died in custody in Al-Montaz police station in Alexandria and was deported from prison after serving a one-year prison sentence amid doubts from human rights centers that he had been murdered.
There is no intention to accuse anybody till investigations into the case are completed, the statement said. In its statement, the Security Department claimed that the prisoner was complaining about shortness of breath and fatigue, making them summons a doctor, but he passed away.
