Sit-in of Cairo University Students Ends After Kidnapped Student Released
Hundreds of Cairo University students ended a four-hour sit-in they started on Tuesday in protest at arresting Ali Barakat, a fourth year student at the Faculty of Commerce, today morning. They ended the sit-in after the student was released.
For his part, student Ali Barakat said that he was stunned along with a group of colleagues while entering university on Tuesday morning by some Giza police officers assaulting, beating and arresting him. They took him to Giza directorate where he appeared before the prosecution that ordered him released.
Ali confirmed that he was beaten by the policemen who arrested him in front of the university gate.
Ali pointed that such illegal exercises from the security services will not prevent the students from calling for their rights and complete freedom in exercising their student activities inside the campus.
