The foreign ministers of the Arab League had called for a meeting at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo between the government and the opposition to form a committee based in Syria to end violence within 15 days. Meanwhile, official Syrian television announced that Syria had reservations about the invitation of the League for comprehensive dialogue at its headquarters, with the government claiming that it is able to manage its affairs and security.

In a statement to IkhwanWeb, Najjar explained: "Mr. Nabil al-Arabi, Arab League Secretary General, visited Syria twice, where he met the repressive regime’s chief – President Bashar al-Assad. Subsequently, the regime failed to stop the bloodshed and persecution of peaceful demonstrators or to stop the arrests".

"Yesterday, the Syrian repressive regime’s response towards dialogue was very clear as its armoured forces moved to surround cities and started one of the biggest waves of arrests against peaceful demonstrators," Najjar added.
He stated the emergency meeting of the Arab League had failed to meet minimum expectations of the oppressed Syrian people’s aspirations.

He explained that to open dialogue within 15 days means only more bloodshed, more wounded and detainees in Syria, and yet more persecution of peaceful Syrian protesters".

Najjar called upon the Arab and Islamic world to support the peaceful Syrian revolution, in which people are being annihilated day and night without any significant response from the Arab or Muslim governments nor from states of the free world, who refuse to listen to the voices of freedom and democracy in Syria.
