Government security has held large-scale arrests and crackdowns on members of the brotherhood and in particular highly ranked leaders and administrators. Abdul Monem Abdul Maqsoud the Brotherhood’s Defense lawyer asserted to Ikhwanonline that “The continued arrests of the Brotherhood’s members are unjust with no legal basis. The regime’s futile attempts to deter the brotherhood’s will, strength and persistence will continue to fail. The Muslim Brotherhood will continue to be available to the public even if there are sacrifices”.
