Tensions Rise between Judges and the HEC

A request has been submitted by Mohamed Mikki of the Supreme Judges Council calling on the High Elections Commission to prepare a report on judicial monitors during Egypt’s recent parliamentary polls which were held amid accusations from judges and election monitoring groups of vote-rigging.

The HEC has maintained that it has, in fact, planned to issue a report covering the issues related to judicial monitoring.

Former president of the Alexandria Judges Club, Mahmoud Al-Khodairy, denounced the recent parliamentary elections, slamming the violations and labelling the polls as fraudulent. Al-Khodairy described the elections as the worst in Egypt’s history, adding that in all reality Egypt has not seen any free elections since 1952.
