The assassination attempt on President “Morsi” on the anniversary of his election did not succeed in killing the people’s dream of freedom and justice.

On June 17, 2012, the Egyptian people came out in droves to express their legitimate right to elect their first civilian president, hoping to reap the fruits of their revolution that displaced the tyrannical rule and to start a new chapter for a free nation that possesses its will and protects its freedom.
On the same day, June 17, 2019, the sinful hand reached out to assassinate the martyred president in his prison; in an attempt to kill the people’s dream and aspirations for a dignified life that began to be sensed at the dawn of the January revolution. However, this crime will not obscure the truth, erase that history from the nation’s memory, alter the facts on the ground, nor will it succeed in assassinating the people’s dream of freedom and justice, nor will it succeed in entrenching the dictatorship whose nature was exposed and its flaws revealed.
The events that Egypt is witnessing today – amid frantic efforts to fail Egypt and subjugate it – confirm to anyone with eyes that the Egyptian people now possess a mature awareness and a firm certainty about the danger of a coup on Egypt’s present and future, and that there is no escape from this bitter reality except by ending this dark era that has stained Egypt’s history and buried it under dirt, setting it far back.
The people firmly realize that there is no comparison between a civilian rule where power is circulated among political components each presenting its program to the people, and a military rule that monopolizes governance and suppresses freedom! There is no room for comparison between a civilian ruler who derives his legitimacy from the masses; feeling their will, aligning his compass towards them, and a military ruler who disregards the people's will, aligning his compass towards those who pushed him to power! There is no room for comparison between a civilian ruler, nationalist in spirit, connected with the will of his people who granted him legitimacy, subject to their accountability and oversight, and a ruler linked with regional and international forces that bestowed upon him a legitimacy he lacks at home, who does not recognize the people’s right to hold him accountable or monitor his actions!
President, the martyr, Dr. “Mohammed Morsi” sacrificed his soul for his nation, optimistic about what Allah has reserved for the martyrs of grace: "And do not think of those who are killed in the way of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision” (Qur’an 3:169); to have the flag carried forward by faithful men and women who have learned from their religion the meaning of freedom and the rejection of injustice, even if they are shackled in prisons and obscured in detentions; they understand the reality of death! They sold themselves for the sake of Allah, and dedicated themselves to defending their people’s right to freedom and human dignity, and they never yield to the corrupt, nor give in to the degradation of their homeland or the freedom of their people or their religion.
“And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know” (Qur’an 12:21).
Allah is The Greatest and all praise is due to Him.
