The “Muslim Brotherhood” group calls upon the media to obtain information about the group from its correct sources

Some media outlets have been publishing false information and false news about the “Muslim Brotherhood” group without referring to the official sources of the group, the latest of which was published by “Arabi 21” on February 20, 2023, that the Egyptian General Shura Council and the World Shura Council elected Dr. Salah  Abdul Haq, Acting General Guide of the group.

In view of this, we affirm the following: that the Egyptian General Shura Council decided in its meeting in November 2022, that Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Hussein shall assume the duties of Acting General Guide of the “Muslim Brotherhood” group, Pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 of the general regulations of the group, and that the Egyptian General Shura Council has not decided anything to the contrary since that date, in addition to the fact that the honorable brother Dr. Salah Abdel-Haq is not a member of the Egyptian General Shura Council and has never been chosen for this position before. The group has only one council for the General Shura at home and abroad, and that which is issued by any illegitimate entities under any names is null and void. The attempts of some to implicate the World Shura Council in matters outside of its jurisdiction will not help in falsifying the facts, especially since the World Shura Council, according to its applicable regulations, does not have the authority to choose a deputy for the General Guide  (it is an exclusive right of the General Guide to choose his own deputy).  It is also not within its power to choose someone who performs the duties of the General Guide (it is the exclusive right of the Egyptian General Shura Council because it is an Egyptian matter). The Egyptian General Shura Council calls upon all media outlets to draw news of the group from its official sources represented by Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Acting General Guide, the official website of the group “Brotherhood Online” and media speakers: Dr. Talaat Fahmy and Mr. Ali Hamad abroad and media spokespeople at home.
