Top cleric resigns from NDP
Egypt‘s top cleric has handed in his resignation from the NDP just weeks after his assuming the post. Ahmed Al-Tayeb quit his membership from the party following numerous allegations that his decisions could be affected by the party’s policies.
The cleric who obtained a PhD in Islamic philosophy from France has been noted to hold moderate views. His resignation was accepted by Mubarak.
