Top Rights Activist in Cairo Monday to Monitor MB Military Trial
Gamila Sadek, a top Syrian human rights activist and a member of the Arab Committee for Human Rights, will arrive in Egypt on Monday evening.
Gamila Sadek is delegated by the Arab Committee for Human Rights, and the Higher Commission for Human Rights to monitor the military court against Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leaders, topped by engineer Khairat Al-Shater the MB second deputy chairman.
The prominent lawyer Gamila Sadek said that there is an expected stunt during her visit to Egypt, hoping that Egyptian authorities will allow her to monitor the military tribunal trying MB leaders.
“I hope that I will not be denied access to the court like what happened to the chairperson of the Arab Committee for Human Rights, Dr. Violet Daghere, Dr. Haitham Manaa, Dr. Ammar Qurabi and Abdul-Rahim Ghammazah..”
Sadek expressed her disappointment that the MB leaders are still tried in front of a military tribunal.
It is worth mentioning that Egyptian authorities has continuously prevented international observers and human rights activists from monitoring the military court against MB top leaders.
The Paris-based Arab Committee for Human Rights is a prominent international rights organizations that seeks to monitor the military tribunal and sends its envoys whom Egyptian security services prevent from monitoring the military trial. Slander campaigns were launched by Egyptian government vetted press and journalists affiliated to Egyptian security services against Dr. Violet Daghere, the chairperson of the Arab Committee for Human Rights during her latest visit to Egypt to monitor the military tribunal which is widely condemned be human rights organizations.
Sources familiar with the case have indicated earlier that the Egyptian regime plans to quickly end the military tribunal against the Muslim Brotherhood leaders through issuing tough sentences against them.
