According to Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman, the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, the issue of international monitoring of elections in Egypt is a decision to be made solely by the Egyptians.

He commended the recent images where Egyptians from all walks of life, including the Muslim Brotherhood, united illustrating solidarity. He stated that this vision assured the world about the direction which Egypt is headed.
He noted that these images and those witnessed in Tahrir Square were an inspiration for the oppressed to stand up for their rights and freedom
Former Arab League chief Amr Mousa asserted that it is in the US’s best interests to support the democratic aspirations of the people of Egypt.
