Witnesses: Muslim Brotherhood Youth Attacked With Tasers, Stones Outside Parliament Building
A number of young Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members who were involved in the protection of the Egyptian parliament against attempts by group of protestors to break in affirm that they were beaten, insulted and stoned, and that dozens of them were wounded, despite their rallying cries of peaceful demonstrations.
This is the second time that Brotherhood youths are beaten, after angry prostestors attacked their stage in Tahrir Square, last Friday.
Abdul Rahman Abul-Gheit, a journalist and a young Brother, said, "I arrived the People’s Assembly (PA) at 5PM, and found myself in front of group of protestors who were shouting against the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and its associates, cursing the Muslim Brotherhood and their Chairman and repeating rumors that the Brothers have taken over the Parliament and betrayed the revolution while Egyptians are living in perpetual poverty.
Abul-Gheit said, in his testimony to Ikhwanweb, “Young Brothers were present since the morning to secure the Parliament House and protect MPs, in light of calls to break into the building. The young Brothers formed human chains to secure the premises and prevent entery the PA buildings and carrying out their violent schemes, as – from their rallying cries – it seemed they were mobilizing people to attack the parliament.
"I saw with my own eyes how the Muslim Brotherhood youths were stoned and their faces beaten, and how they endured patients as they were kicked and punched. Yet, they demonstrated an incredible amount of self-discipline".
He added, "When young Brothers were shouting ‘Eyd Wahda’ (i.e. ‘One hand, united’), the angry crowd shouted ‘Eyd Weska’ (i.e. ‘Dirty Hand’) among other rallying cries demanding the overthrow of the Parliament.
"I saw also how electric Tasers were used against the young Brothers. And to make it more painful, the guys using the Tasers sprayed water over the Brothers just before using their Tasers on them, which made it a much more intensely painful experience", Abul-Gheit continued.
Abul-Gheit denied strongly reports that young Brothers attacked those who tried to break through their human chains, stressing that in fact those who wanted to cut across their human chains attacked young Brothers. Quite often, young Brothers managed to push them away, but they insisted on violently attacking the human chain and assaulting the Brothers, and only rarely did the young Brothers hit back, only as a reaction to brutal force used by those who insisted on abusing, attacking and beating them.
Abul-Gheit pointed out that there were many casualties in the ranks of Brotherhood youths caused by the attacks they suffered today at the hands of so called "revolutionaries".
Montassir Harun, a Brother from Osim (an Egyptian town), agreed with the above statement, adding, "We were there to prevent any vandalism that might befall the parliament. Our action was totally peaceful, but we were shocked to hear the obscenity and see the stones thrown by group of angry protesteros and their, who also used the electric Tasers and knifes against us, chasing our young Brothers in the street".
He added, in his testimony to Ikhwanweb, "There are heavy casualties among Muslim Brotherhood youths as a result of these violent attacks, which were totally inhuman".
